Poppy's Home
Our doctor appointments are always very short...."I'm happy with everything I see on your chart. Everything looks great. See you at the next appointment". I make them 10x longer because I have a bazillion questions.....We leave each appointment with smiles on our faces, but I thought it'd be good to update those about me - the "cave" Pop has been hibernating in since last August.
Generally speaking, my pregnancy has been very, very easy (knock on wood - it's not over yet!). I really have minor complaints (right, Michael?!):
- my lower back. There are times when I feel that snapping it in half would feel better than the way it feels.
- the heartburn. People warned me about this - but I really didn't think it could be THAT bad. OMG! It was so bad one night, I couldn't swallow my own saliva.
- the inability to use my abs. In order for me to turn over in bed, I have to completely wake up, think if it's worth the hassle to turn over, decide that it is, use my arms to sit completely up, rotate and then fall back down. By the time I complete this process...I'm WIDE awake, kicking myself for making the decision to make the move.
Any more Michael?
Housing Poppy has been one of the most amazing experiences. When I watch my belly move from left to right or get sad that I can't get help him get rid of his hiccups, I can't help but smile and be so proud to already be his Mommy.
He's a picture of my handsome little man!
What to say....
So much has been going on and I've been SO bad about posting the last month, that I'm suffering from writer's block.
So instead of being all creative - I'll just tell you what's up:
- We attended Child Birth classes. Wow - some of those tools they use if the baby isn't coming out....let's just say we're both happy we saw them BEFORE go time.
- We attended Breast Feeding classes. I haven't really been worried about not being able to breastfeed....but after the class, even though I gained tons of knowledge about how to do it - I'm more anxious about it than ever. But also more determined than ever to be successful.
- I got in a minor fender bender. All is TOTALLY fine....we had a three hour trial run in The Birth Center - I know I like the gowns, they gave me socks with grippers & Michael had full access to a TV. Score! Seriously though - everything was fine and it was actually kind of nice to know what the fetal monitor and contraction monitor were like.
- We've acquired bags and bags of hand-me-downs. Seriously - this kid has more clothes for the first three months of his life than I think I have in my entire closet. (Thank you everyone!!)
- We secured daycare. While I can't say I'll ever be thrilled to have someone else watching my son....I really do have a comfortable feeling with the lady we decided to go with. I think she's going to be great for Pop, she's the right price and she's 3 minutes from Michael's work.
With only 5, yes I said FIVE weeks until the due date.....I feel we are getting more and more prepared with each passing day.
